Promos and Being a Little Unconventional
Feb. 1st, 2025 09:23 am There's some exciting fandom related things going on now, so I thought I might take a minute and mention a few.
1. I'd be amiss if I didn't promo
tenminutesaday ( @shivver and I are co-mods) . Started a couple of years back, and it's fun comm to help you get inspired to write more and support each other. Rules / info are on the page.
2. @halfamoon is going on right now. I'm not participating but I'm definitely interested to see any cool fanworks.
3. @fic_promptly is up! This is kind of like Three Sentence Fic (in that you leave prompts in the comments(, however there are different themes. And no maximum or minimum word count.
4. If you're on Tumblr and love Once Upon a Time ( and/or a certain ship) Fluffapalooza Is going on soon. This I am participating in.

I haven't done this in awhile, so have some UCG fun. (Using DW 1963/ 2005, OUaT, and , to make things interesting, Jane Austen)
446) HER SECRET FLING by Natalie Anderson
Reporter Jack Harkness is the most arrogant man the Thirteenth Doctor’s ever met! So why can’t she stop fantasising about a fling with him? And more importantly, with all this intensity, can she ever keep it no-strings-attached?
323) Emergency: Wife Lost and Found - Carol Marinelli
Marriage reunited – in A&E!
Every emergency doctor dreaded recognising someone in Casualty – even cool-headed consultant the Ninth Doctor. But he was doubly shocked when the unconscious patient he was asked to treat was instantly familiar. It was his ex-wife!
Dr Martha Jones hated being ill, hated being stuck in a hospital bed, but above all she hated having to rely on Nine. Then, as she recovered, all the wonderful things about their marriage came flooding back… (is it scary I sort of want to see Nine and Martha now)
563) The Wife Trap by Tracy Anne Warren
Your presence is requested at a wedding deception.
After orchestrating a scandalous high-society ruse, Lady Leela is banished from her family's estate in England and sent to live with boring elderly cousins in the Irish countryside. But Leela's exile is surprisingly eventful. En route to her dreaded destination, she encounters the Eleventh Doctor, a devilishly handsome architect who transforms Leela's punishment into a delicious whirlwind of wits, words, and undeniable passion.
Although no less than a duke could satisfy a lady of her status, Leela is unable to extinguish the burning desire she has for Eleven's smoldering looks and sizzling kisses. Little does she know, her dashing Irishman is no commoner. He's the eleventh Earl of Mulholland and he's thoroughly enjoying the irresistible game of hard-to-get. But before he reveals his true identity, a little temptation and trickery are in order to teach his fair lady a lesson or two about love.
74) Just a Taste – Bronwyn Jameson
Jo Grant has been lied to, cheated on and widowed. Seeing her through it all Mike Yates - her brother-in-law. He’d held her, comforted her – and she’d felt the simmering of an impossible attraction. But now the fire was not just simmering, it was threatening to ignite! ( Well, these two at least make some sense!)
284) Undercover Wife by Debra Webb
Specialist Cora was dedicated to duty — the mission always top priority — and she'd do anything to carry out an assignment. Even if it meant posing as the unthinkable: wife to the newly 'recruited' Rumplestiltskin....
She'd shown up in the middle of the night and offered Rumplestiltskin his freedom if he'd pose as her husband to catch an insidious drug lord/arms dealer. Except, given the compromising position he found himself in as victim of a frame-up, Rumplestiltskin was totally at the mercy of his 'guardian' as an untrained, stand-in agent. All he had to do was assume someone else's identity, learn the ins and outs of weaponry and share a bed with his dangerously attractive 'wife', Cora. And if he came out of this with his life intact, he'd surely lose his heart in the process! ( 'Lose his heart,' hmm? :P Also *psst* @thisbluespirit , catch! )
456) A Sensible Wife by Jessica Hart
Was It Only a Business Arrangement?
Belle had lost her money and her passport and she hadn't eaten in twenty-four hours. But should she accept the help of a stranger, especially one who exuded such total confidence in himself?
Robin Hood's offer to help Belle was genuine, but it came with conditions — he'd pay her to pretend to be his wife. The arrangement would help him out of a sticky situation and Belle out of a precarious one. And, as he constantly reminded her, the arrangement was only temporary. Robin had no intention of really marrying a woman like Belle. He wanted a sensible wife!
570) Captain Grey's Christmas Proposal by Carla Kelly
Captain Julia Bertram was fighting malarial fever in Savannah when she met John Knightley. She proposed by letter — but it's taken ten years for her to receive his reply. The answer is, 'Yes!' but is he still free to become her Christmas groom?
15)THE OFFICER AND THE LADY by DOROTHY ELBURY
Mills & Boon Historical Romance
The Nabob’s Return
An officer in the East India Trading Company, Harry Sullivan has made a life a world away from England and his father’s malevolence. Now it’s time for Harry to return home.
There, he finds Caroline Bingley, who’s worked tirelessly to save the Thornfield estate from ruin. Cold and aloof, Harry gradually thaws as he begins to imagine a new life – with Caroline. But he’s torn – the blistering heat of India will wilt his English rose, unless he can vanquish his demons and find his home at last with her...
